Join the THHS Alumni Community at a Panel Discussion "Lean In and Our Generation" on Thursday, February 6th.
With her new book, Lean In, Sheryl Sandberg opens up a powerful conversation about women, careers, ambition, leadership and family life.
Alumni panelists of diverse backgrounds will share their perspectives and approaches to defining success and re-imagining work, family, community and leadership. And then we will throw the floor open to discussion.
Martine Guerrier (1989). Martine has served as a policy advisor in the NYC Mayor's Office, and as the first Chief Family Engagement Officer for NYC public schools. She has been featured in newspapers and published articles in magazines, most notably she has twice served as a guest on FOX "Good Day New York" and as a co-host on "Politics Now" online radio program during the 2013 NYC election cycle.
Nily Rozic (2004). At 26 years old, Nily Rozic became the youngest woman serving in the New York State Legislature. She represents parts of Eastern Queens--including Townsend Harris High School - and advocates on behalf of working families, immigrant communities, and young women.
Monika Bialokur (1990). Monika is a Marketing and Digital Strategist specializing in helping brands and companies build their digital universe. Monika has worked with many women-led start-ups and is involved in many organizations addressing women's issues including the Women's Leadership Summit and National Girlfriend's Networking Day.
Renata Kobetts Miller (1989). Renata is an associate professor and chair of the English Department at City College of the City University of New York, and she is
the author of several articles and a book on the subjects of Victorian literature. She has also published articles on women's roles in society and the workplace, and she is the proud mother of two small children.
Moderator Tanya M. Odom (1988). Tanya is an education and global diversity and inclusion consultant and Executive Coach. Her work has appeared in Insight into Diversity, Diversity Woman, and the Huffington Post. Tanya was named one of the "Top 5 Diversity Thought Leaders to Follow on Twitter." Tanya is the first female President and Chairperson of the Townsend Harris Alumni Association.
There will also be time for networking before the event.
