Jennifer Chau ’95

Jennifer Chau ’95, is the founder and executive director of Swirl Inc., a national multi-ethnic organization founded in 2000, that challenges society’s notions of race through community building, education, and action.

In addition, she is the national director of Pipeline Development and Community at New Leaders for New Schools, a national non-profit education reform organization that trains principals to turn around our country’s underperforming urban public schools, all in the name of closing the achievement gap.

Jen received her bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from Wellesley College and her master’s of science in organizational change management from Milano, The New School for Management and Urban Policy. She currently lives in New York City and writes about her experiences in activism every now and then at The Time Is Always Right.

Jen’s perspectives on race and racism have been featured in such publications as The New York Times, USA Today, and The San Francisco Chronicle. Additionally, Jen has appeared on CNN, NPR, MSNBC, and PBS’s Asian America as an expert on topics. surrounding diversity, race issues, and mixed race identity.
