Louis Ramos ’90

Louis Ramos ’90, served for almost six years as an assistant United State attorney in the District of Columbia, where he tried 19 jury trials and more than 30 bench trials. As a federal prosecutor, he directed grand jury investigations of violations of federal and local criminal laws, including economic crimes such as bank fraud, embezzlement, mail and wire fraud, money laundering, counterfeiting, social security fraud, narcotics trafficking, weapons offenses, human trafficking and crimes of violence.

Louis received two United States Department of Justice Special Achievement Awards for Sustained Superior Performance, in 2004 and 2006. Louis is now a partner in DLA Piper’s white collar, corporate crimes and investigations practice,based in Washington, D.C.

Louis has extensive white-collar experience, including representing pharmaceutical, health care and financial services clients in government and internal investigations, as well as compliance work.

Recently, he served as counsel in the global investigations team of the corporate compliance group at Pfizer Inc, where he led numerous internal investigations.

Louis also has substantial experience with matters concerning bank fraud, off-label promotion, anti-kickback violations, pharmaceutical research and manufacturing, health care and drug sales and marketing investigations, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the False Claims Act.
