Survivors include Beatrice, his loving wife of 67 years, his two sons, Mark of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. and Eric of Holyoke, MA , grandchildren, Jason, Dana and Elizabeth, and great granddaughters Nora and Gabriella.
He was the born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He was recognized as the All Around Athlete at Camp Tioga in 1932. He attended Townsend Harris High School and City College of New York before serving as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was the owner and proprietor of the Womrath's Book Store in Bronxville , NY, before his retirement and move to the Meadows in Sarasota.
He was an avid tennis player and an active member of the Meadows Tennis Club for over 25 years. He was a perennial club tournament champion in his age group and could be found at the courts at least three times a week into his 92nd year.
He and his wife Beatrice traveled the world from China to Europe to South America. They spent many evenings enjoying their shared fascination with the theater in both New York and London.
He had a ferocious curiosity and was one of the few people who actually read every volume of Will and Ariel Durant's Story of Civilization. Everywhere he went he would charm and amuse those he met. He will be remembered for his humor and the way he always treated people with respect and without malice. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
