Donald Doctorow, Class of 1939
Donald Doctorow of New Rochelle, NY, died on January 13 at age 88. A trade magazine editor and publisher, he was a graduate of Townsend Harris High school and the City College of New York. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Air Force as a radio operator making reconnaissance flights over the Pacific in search of German U-boats. He was the husband of the late Elly Doctorow, the first woman to be elected to the New Rochelle City Council. He was a board member of the New Rochelle Opera Company, and Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor, NY. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey, David, and Jonathan, his daughters-in-law Tracy, Crystal and Lisa, his grandchildren Siena, Sarah and Louis, and his brother Edgar, all of whom mourn his passing.
