Bernard William Nimkin (Bill), died on February 17, 2013 of multiple myeloma. He was born in New York City in 1923. He had a long and wonderful life. He graduated from Townsend Harris High School, Harvard College ’43 and Harvard Law School ’49. He was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 66 years; three children David (Dorothee Martens), Maggie and Katie (Khether Raby) and three grandchildren Benjamin, Annabel and Sam.
He was a retired corporate lawyer at the law firm Kaye Scholer and was active in several bar associations. He spent summers in Cornwall Bridge, CT. He was a Shakespearean, a printmaker and an avid birder. He was loving, generous and optimistic. He enjoyed theater, opera, travel and tennis. There will be no funeral. The family will have a gathering of friends and family this Spring where we can all talk about Bill. Published in The New York Times, February 20, 2013.
