Hebert Peterfreund, Class of 1933

Harold Peterfreund, died Monday, October 5, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Peterfreund and the late Gloria Peterfreund; loving father of Stuart (Chris), Mallie (Allen), Zarina (Tim), and Jay; beloved grandfather of Sara, Marissa (Jason), Alisa, Shina, Tara, Talia and Sarah. Retired founder and president of Future Motors. He was known by all as “Mr. Taxicab,” as he was the pioneer of the passenger car taxicab used all over the United States, even today. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Ellenville, NY and the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He was a 1933 graduate of Townsend Harris High School and served his country in WWII as an automotive instructor in ordinance corps. A master mechanic, he owned many Sunoco gas stations in Brooklyn and Queens before realizing his dream of owning his first Dodge dealership in 1953. Loved by his many friends throughout the world. He was a first class golfer and world traveler. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Private graveside services.
