Robert Weisberg, Class of 1938

Weisberg, Robert T. 1922 – 2010

Bob Weisberg was born on March 30, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Townsend Harris High School, then earned a BBA from City College of New York. Stationed in Waco, TX while preparing to be deployed overseas during World War II, he met Vivian Bashara at a USO dance. For both, it was love at first sight. They postponed their marriage until his safe return from the war. As an infantry rifle platoon leader, he was awarded the Silver Star for valor in combat. His decorations also included the Bronze Star for a separate act of heroism and a battlefield promotion to 1st Lieutenant. Returning from the war, he married his beloved Vivian and they began raising a family in Dallas while launching a career representing fine apparel manufacturers that spanned more than 40 years. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father by his wife Vivian and sons Mick, Steve and Dick, who along with Vivian and daughters-in-law Lynn and Donna, survive him and mourn his loss. He will also be remembered by countless friends, business associates and thousands of visitors to Presbyterian Hospital, where as a family man and humanitarian he did extensive volunteer work after his retirement. In keeping with his wishes and those of his family, an informal celebration of his life will be held at noon, Monday, May 17, at the Venetian Room, located at the Bonaventure Condominiums, 5200 Keller Springs Road in Dallas. Friends are invited to join the family and share their own memories with us as we toast a truly remarkable husband, father and friend and the legacy of love and laughter that he leaves behind for all of us whose lives he touched.
